YUBA RIVER CLEAN-UP DAY
Calling all volunteers! Sept 20 is the annual Yuba River Clean-up Day! This year, I'll be running the games space at the volunteer appreciation picnic at Condon Park. I've gotten a few questions privately, so here are the answers to the FAQs.
You can volunteer for the games space Rebecca (Auntie Vice) or other clean up crews (or both!)! You will need to fill out a formal volunteer sheet and waiver here: https://secure.everyaction.com/uSS7EYknf0CAVLm7q81Gxw2
Why am I not running a clean-up crew? Running the games space provides more visibility for the LGBTQ+ group's involvement in Yuba Clean Up Day. It is an old activist tactic of doing something people like and want and being gay while doing it. It also means we are more likely to be mentioned in press coverage about the day, thus adding to positive LGBTQ+ representation in the area.
If you really want to do the clean up, please do! That runs from 8-12. The volunteer appreciation party is 12-3.
What would volunteering look like? Join the LGBTQ+ community hosting the games space for Yuba River Clean-Up volunteers! We will be running a bunch of activities including: Giant Jenga, cornhole, bubble stations, Bingo, basketball & more! Help folks socialize, hand out prizes, and have fun!
Picnic foods available, community and nature groups will be there.
Can you bring a dog? Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome (which is why my puppy will be at home. Down boy!)
