Turning PAGES: Parent and Guardian Education and Support Group

Turning PAGES: Parent and Guardian Education and Support is a free group for parents and caregivers of LGBTQIA+ Youth in Nevada County. The group is facilitated by local LGBTQIA+ community members and mental health professionals who specialize in working with teens.

Turning PAGES will meet for 8 weeks on Wednesday evenings from 6-7:30 pm, starting January 24th. The first 7 sessions will be online, and the final session will be in person on March 13th, to connect and build community among group members.

We’ll cover topics such as parental emotional support, LGBTQIA+ lingo, emotional and mental health support factors for youth, advocacy and allyship skills, and resources and referrals to support the young people in our lives. The group is primarily discussion and reflection based, and loosely based on the Parent Support Program by Dr. Em Matsuno.

If you have a middle or high school age youth in the LGBTQIA+ community in your life, please consider joining to practice self reflection and gender-affirming skills to best support them! The group is open to parents and caregivers.
