This is a first come first served event which can hold 80 people. We have a brand new restaurant in Nevada City called Kathmandu Hippie, which serves Nepalese food, think home made chai tea and sweet and savory mimosas. We have an event on Aug 4th. Our first, and we are considering repeating on a monthly basis which is to be an alcohol and smoke free environment with no charge and no age restrictions. It’s a family event with the idea that queer folks and their fierce allies and family members can join together under a huge shade tree in the courtyard or inside the restaurant to enjoy music and food and good times. From 6 to 7:30 is a meet and greet from 7:30 to 8 we plan some brief entertainment and from 8 o’clock till nine is more meet and greet. Anyone can come early to eat at the restaurant during the event as well. Their Chef will be making certain Sweet n Savory for our event. All of that will be reasonably priced and available for purchase. All of that is optional as there is no charge for this event. We are doing this so that young queer people who cannot join/get together in bars or go to after-school queer/straight alliances at school during the summer can have a safe space to talk with friends and meet new ones. As this is our first event, we don’t know if we’ll get 10-20 or 80 people. We have space for 40 people under the tree on the patio and we have space for 40 inside the restaurant once we’re at save capacity people will be turned away until there is space. This is a quiet neighborhood, so no alcohol will be served and music will be soft.
